Misery
It was clean and relatively modern.
We had two rooms. Unfortunately, the mixer tap on the basin was broken & sharp, and did not work in the room with my disabled & elderly mother so was forced to move rooms onto a different floor after 1:00am in the morning. This was very unsatisfactory as we needed to be near her, and assist her. There was a lot of upheaval as we were moving with a lot of luggage for her needs, who then needed to unpack. Shortly after changing the room, we put the key card in the wall to activate the electricity, air conditioning, etc. I put my mother’s medication which must be kept refrigerated in the fridge, and in the morning, when she needed to take the medication again, we noticed that the fridge was not working, everything was warm. She was horrified as she cannot take the medication as it ineffective when exposed to heat. We now have a terrible struggle to get this medication reissued as it was prescribed by a doctor in England. It will also be hugely expensive to source this. (2 pharmacists have refused to re-issue the medication as we do not have the prescription, only the drugs themselves.) We raised our complaints with the hotel as soon as it was discovered and we were asked if we had put the card in the wall, which we had. The assistant was unsympathetic and we then spoke to a manager, Anna, who was really rude. She was very disrespectful to an 89 year old, and kept sarcastically interrupting & snapping, “Thank you!” each time my mother tried to speak. We were stunned when she told us that it was our fault as we should have checked with the hotel if the fridge and tap were working before we arrived! Anna refused to refund the cost of my mother’s room due to broken tap & the inconvenience + delay in going to bed so late due to having to change rooms in the early hours of the morning, & most importantly the non-functioning fridge.
